Every October, the world turns pink. Breast Cancer Awareness Month brings together communities, organisations, and brands in a shared mission - to spread awareness, fund treatment, and save lives. This year, Beyond East is proud to stand alongside Pink Ribbon Pakistan in a collaboration that goes beyond fashion.
Why This Matters — Breast Cancer in Pakistan
Pakistan has the highest breast cancer rate in Asia. Approximately 90,000 new cases are reported every year, and nearly 40,000 women lose their lives to the disease annually. Over 10 million women across Pakistan are at risk.
Perhaps the most critical statistic is this: 70% of patients in Pakistan are diagnosed at stage III, when the disease has already advanced significantly. On average, women diagnosed with breast cancer in Pakistan face a 111-day delay before treatment begins compared to just two to four weeks in high-income countries.
Yet when breast cancer is detected early, the survival rate exceeds 90%. Up to 40% of cases can be prevented through lifestyle awareness and timely screening. The gap between what is possible and what is happening is where awareness becomes urgent and where organisations like Pink Ribbon Pakistan are making a real difference.
About Pink Ribbon Pakistan
Pink Ribbon Pakistan has been at the forefront of breast cancer awareness and care since 2004. Through its annual Pinktober National Awareness Drive, the organisation runs 30 days of community activations, educational outreach, and landmark illuminations - from the Faisal Mosque in Islamabad to cricket stadiums across the country.
More importantly, Pink Ribbon operates Pakistan's first dedicated breast cancer hospital, offering free treatment to financially disadvantaged women. The hospital's services include a One Stop Breast Clinic for immediate assessment, a state-of-the-art Radiology Centre, a 12-bay Chemotherapy Unit, a Surgical Unit, and counselling services. For thousands of women who cannot afford diagnosis and treatment, Pink Ribbon Hospital is a lifeline.
What Beyond East Is Doing
As a Pakistani fashion brand rooted in heritage and community, Beyond East believes that purpose and style can coexist. For Pinktober 2026, we are channelling our platform towards a cause that touches every family in Pakistan.
The Pinktober Collection
We have curated a dedicated pink collection featuring rose, blush, magenta, and fuchsia pieces from our range including unstitched suits, ready-to-wear ensembles, dupattas, and accessories. Through this collection, customers get a chance to receive a free mammogram test in collaboration with Pink Ribbon Pakistan (limited availability).
Awareness Through Fashion
Fashion is a language everyone understands. When a brand you follow for style inspiration also shares information about breast health, when an outfit you love also supports free cancer treatment these moments break barriers that clinical campaigns alone cannot reach. In many Pakistani communities, conversations about breast health are avoided due to cultural sensitivities. This silence can have life-threatening consequences. By wearing pink and shopping with purpose, our customers help normalise a conversation that saves lives.
How to Style Pink This Pinktober
Pink is one of the most versatile colours in Pakistani ethnic fashion, and this October it carries deeper meaning. Here are a few ways to wear your support:
A blush pink lawn or cotton suit paired with white trousers and a contrasting dupatta in sage green or muted gold works beautifully for everyday elegance morning outings, casual office settings, or weekend gatherings. Keep accessories minimal with small gold jhumkas and nude sandals.

For semi-formal settings, a rose pink embroidered kameez with a chiffon dupatta creates a refined look for family dinners and evening events. Pair with pearl or silver accessories for a timeless combination.

Magenta and fuchsia are your Pinktober power shades ideal for festive occasions and events where you want your outfit to start a conversation. Pair a fuchsia unstitched suit with contrasting bottle green or navy accents, or try a magenta kameez with black trousers for a modern colour-blocked look.
If a full pink outfit feels too bold, a pink dupatta draped over a neutral ensemble white, black, or beige is the simplest way to show your support while keeping your personal style intact.

Know Your Body — Breast Self-Examination
One of the most important things you can do this October is learn about breast self-examination. BSE is a simple, private practice that helps you become familiar with how your breasts normally look and feel making it easier to notice any changes early. While BSE is not a substitute for clinical screening, it is an important first step, particularly where regular clinical access may be limited.
According to Breastcancer.org, a self-exam involves five key steps: stand in front of a mirror with shoulders straight and check for any visible changes in size, shape, or colour. Raise your arms overhead and look again. Check for any signs of fluid from the nipples. Lie down and use the pads of your fingers to feel the entire breast in a circular pattern, covering from the collarbone to the top of the abdomen and from the armpit to the cleavage. Repeat this while standing many women find this easiest in the shower.
If you notice any lump, thickening, skin dimpling, nipple discharge, or persistent change, consult a healthcare professional promptly. Share this knowledge with your mother, sisters, daughters, and friends. Awareness shared is awareness multiplied.
October 13 — Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day
While Breast Cancer Awareness Month rightly focuses on early detection and survivorship, one day within October carries a particularly important focus. October 13 is Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day dedicated to women and men living with stage IV breast cancer, where cancer cells have spread beyond the breast to other parts of the body such as the bones, lungs, liver, or brain.
An estimated 20% to 30% of people initially diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer may eventually experience metastatic progression. Treatment for metastatic breast cancer is ongoing and lifelong, and access to the latest treatments remains limited in many countries, including Pakistan. On this day and every day, the experiences of those living with metastatic disease deserve awareness, research funding, and unwavering support.
